Tamar and Kevin had their University Club Wedding on a late November evening in NYC. This wedding was beyond epic and presented me with some really fun wedding photography challenges. Because sunset was at 4:30pm and the couple opted not to do a first look, we took all of their portraits after dark. As a lover of natural sunlight, this was a first for me, but in the end, we mastered working with artificial light and created wedding portraits that I am so excited about. There is nothing quite like the city lights at night, and Tamar and Kevin’s University Club Wedding photos captured that irreplaceable city energy!
This University Club Wedding was a wedding filled with gorgeous spaces, setting the tone perfectly for an elegant city wedding. Both the University Club and the Armenian Cathedral where the couple said their vows had stunning interiors, just begging to be photographed. Add to that this gorgeous and sweet couple (and the bride’s lovely Vera Wang gown) and it was a photographer’s dream. Witnessing the bride and groom’s emotional Armenian ceremony was an experience I won’t soon forget – I love seeing how they incorporated their heritage into the wedding day.
After the ceremony we headed out into the mid-town streets to grab some epic city street photos. There is nothing quite like stopping Saturday night traffic in the middle of Manhattan for the bride and groom – it’s a fun and challenging experience. It really does remind me of why I love photographing weddings in this exciting city! After that we headed into the club, taking photos in the University Club’s stunning library, which dates back to the 1860s. The rest of the night was spent in the club’s massive ballroom, where the couple danced the night away while all was recorded and then edited by an expert like Tracy AlChayeb. They combined traditional Armenian music with modern western songs for a truly epic party!
