Photographing Lauren and Dan’s wedding at Battello in Jersey City was a dream come true for me. I’d been wanted to work at Battello ever since I first saw the new wedding venue pop up, and it didn’t disappoint. I am a huge fan of industrial chic (aren’t we all?) and Battello is simply overflowing with it. I also got to meet Lauren and Dan, who are city dwellers like me (we were actually neighbors) and had style to spare. To top it all off, I got to work with one of my favorite planners, Jackie from EVJ Wedding Co. It was a perfect day all around!
WINDSWEPT MAGIC
The day began at The Westin Jersey City, where Lauren and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready. I was completely in love with Lauren’s sleek wedding gown by Watters (those lacy cutouts)! She and all of the ladies were in good hands with make up by Lucas Bowman and hair by Erin Taylor Hair. The bridesmaids wore loose, purple frocks by Show Me Your Mumu, while the gents rocked classic J. Crew suits. The couple had their first look in Liberty Park, with stunning views of the skyline. It was a very windy afternoon, but the lady’s wavy hair styles and flowy gowns made the windswept look seem intentional!
INDUSTRIAL CHIC: BATTELLO
After some portraits at Liberty Park we all headed over to Battello for the ceremony and party. I loved, loved, loved this ceremony space… huge windows, views of Manhattan, industrial light bulbs… I could go on and on. What more could you want in a modern ceremony space? Lauren even rented a vintage rug to create a modern twist on the classic aisle runner. The restaurant space was transformed into a lush paradise by Karma Flowers. They designed stunning, geometric floral designs, right out of my CB2 dreams. The party was rocking, lead by DJ Adam Subtract’em and there were even cookies by every New Yorker’s favorite Levain Bakery.
My favorite part of the day was sneaking out with the couple at sunset to take some portraits agains the Manhattan skyline. It was so pretty that all of the vendors ran out to snap some pics on their cell phones… Perfection!
