There is really nothing better than a late summer outdoor wedding – and Tracey and Thomas’s Lasdon Park wedding was just that! This wonderful Brooklyn based couple wanted a relaxed, naturally romantic wedding celebration that reflected their laid-back lifestyle. They chose Lasdon Park Arboretum and Veterans Memorial in Katonah, New York for their wedding venue. The park had acres of gardens, fields and wooded areas, as well as a stone cottage, greenhouse and tented event space.
The day began with Tracey and Thomas getting ready with their friends in different rooms inside the property’s cottage house. I loved photographing in this uniquely charming space! Tracey’s mother helped her get into her gown, a gold flaked frock from Dear Heart. You all know I love a unique bridal look and Tracey’s gown was one of my all-time favorites!
One of the best features of Lasdon Park is their stunning greenhouse and Tracey and Thomas decided to have their first look inside of this gorgeous space. I’ve always wanted to photograph a wedding in the tropics and getting to take portraits surrounded by these lush flowers was such a fun experience! The bride and groom wrote each other love letters to read before the ceremony and witnessing them reading those silently was a moment I’ll never forget. I am not one to cry at weddings (not even my own!) – but this was really touching. I love how much these two care about each other – a fact that was obvious throughout the entire day.
After some photos around Lasdon Park with their friends and families, we all headed to their stunning ceremony site under the chuppah. Their inter-faith ceremony was followed by an outdoor cocktail hour with lawn games and passed appitizers. Their tented reception was so much fun – complete with a taco truck, ice cream cookies and an awesome dance party! Thanks T&T for having me along!
