The Roundhouse Beacon will always hold a special place in my heart. I’ve photographed quite a few weddings here over the years and it never gets old. Beacon is the cutest little Hudson Valley town you can imagine – with a charming main street and even a river running right through the middle of town! It’s only about an hour north of NYC, making it the perfect place to escape to for a long weekend (or a wedding!). The venue itself fits in perfectly with the landscape, using rustic interior design and massive windows to emphasize the indoor/outdoor way of life in the Hudson Valley.
But, this isn’t actually an interior design blog (though that would be cool) – so I have to tell you what made this wedding really special. And I think you know what it is… Victoria and Tom are dream clients. They are sweet, adorable and more than anything else, up for an adventure! They did their first look by the Roundhouse waterfall and then they used a literal rope to climb down the side of the embankment to get closer to the river and get some amazing photo opts – I’ve never experience that before! Victoria did all of this in her wedding dress and didn’t even bat an eyelid. Talk about living in the moment!
Though our river walk adventure was the highlight for me, the whole day really was amazing. The ladies got ready at a close by Airbnb that was a mid-century modern dream. Meanwhile, the guys hung out at the venue’s hotel, which is also one of my favorite spots to photograph in. After their sweet first look, Victoria and Tom were married outside by one of their closest friends. They then danced the night away to some old school hip-hop and pop – there was some NYSCN and my 2000’s kid’s heart was happy.
